09/02/07 - CANARYLAND
Well, January was quite the month. I'm honestly still recovering from all the activity. I think I spent more nights in strange beds than I did my own! It was a bunch of wicked experiences though, and a glimpse of a lifestyle I wouldn't mind continuing. You've already heard about the first half of the month, so I'll fill you in on the rest...

I spent a week in the Canary Islands. It was my first time going anywhere like that (think "island paradise") and it really lived up to my expectations. The first four days were spent in Lanzarote shooting for Ken Smith (i.e. Aqua-erotica and more). It rained the first couple of days, but the last two made up for it. The landscape was beautifully stark, the whole island covered in black volcanic rock and edged with steep cliffs. The beaches of South Carolina or Brighton just don't compare.

Next stop Tenerife, Lanzarote was nice, but Tenerife was much more like what I expected the Canary Islands to be. There were mountains and cliffs, but everything was lush and covered with green. Lanzarote was like a post-apocalyptic wasteland, which was cool don't get me wrong, but I do love green.

I was there for the shoot I have been looking forward to most, for Bloodangels. I did a scene with Astrid, Pupett and then one on my own. It was bar none the most fun I've ever had shooting, playing with chastity belts, leather harnesses, heavy irons and more. The scenes were done as photo-stories
(another first), which was all very camp and theatrical. It was awesome, and I totally hope I get to do more stuff like that.

Things at home have been crazy for the last few days. Moe had to go to the American embassy in London to be interviewed for his US visa. First of all, wow, we got the interview at the beginning of February (we weren't expecting it to happen until mid-march). Second, it was piss easy. They only asked him a few easy questions: How did you meet? What was your first date like? When did you decide it was serious? How did you propose? All questions we could answer honestly even though the lady seemed most disappointed that his "proposal" was (arguably quite unromantically) more the product of discussion and a mutual agreement between us.

So he's got his visa! Wicked! Yay! Months and months and miles and miles of forms later, thank god it's finished! Pfft. As if. The first stage is done, but once we're married it pretty much starts all over again. But let's ignore that for the next month, kay? The important thing to remember is that he has his visa and we aren't even leaving for a month! We're AHEAD of schedule! We never manage that!

My family is, of course, having much fun with the fuss of arranging the wedding, but that's a whole other post...

It seems that moving to San Francisco is going to be the next big hurdle. The whole idea scares the pee-pee out of me, but it must be faced at some point (tomorrow).
